The Musée du Louvre, situated at the heart of Paris, is the biggest Parisian museum ans one of the greatest in the world.
It owns 300 000 works of art and about 35 000 are exposed on a surface of 160 106 m².. The rest of the works are exposed in the Musée d’Orsay for the period from 1848 to 1914 and to the Centre d’Art Contemporain Georges Pompidou for the period from 1914 to nowadays.
The Musée du Louvre underwent a total renovation in 1981 and the construction of the pyramid that ended in 1993 gave a younger aspect to the museum.
The Musée du Louvre is starting a great period of modernization; new architectural project, renovations, multimedia guides, access t everybody… Until 2020, the works will be numerous in order to turn the Louvre into a vanguard museum.
